Christmas was always my favorite time of year.  I always made Christmas special for my son with traditional customs my parents had used.  When my son, Michael, died on December 20, 2004, my love for the Christmas season ended that year.  Having grandchildren to spend holidays with I didn't want to ruin Christmas for others, so I have decided a way to celebrate Christmas in the fashion it is to be remembered...the  birth of our lord.  In memory of my son, we go out to dinner and we order dessert first and then our meal as he always told his nieces "In my house I get to make the rules and my mother and father have to obey MY rules.  I've waited a long time for this, so in my house, we get to eat dessert first!"  The girls thought that was totally awesome and love ordering dessert first in his memory.  We have also bought memorial ornaments to hang in his memory so that he is always with us.  When someone you love dies, your love for them doesn't end there.  Love last forever in the heart.
